William Lawrence Stocks Jr., lovingly known as “Bubba,” passed away peacefully on June 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Born on March 6, 1941, in Dalton, Georgia, to William and Allie Stocks, Lawrence lived a life defined by devotion, integrity, wisdom, and love for his family. Above all else, he was a family man whose greatest joy came from the people he loved. On September 29, 1960, he married the love of his life, Judy. Together they shared nearly 59 years of marriage before Judy’s passing in 2019 after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Throughout her illness, Lawrence devoted himself wholeheartedly to her care and comfort. His unwavering loyalty, faithfulness, and tenderness toward Judy were an inspiration to everyone who witnessed their love. Lawrence enjoyed simple pleasures in life—a cold Dr Pepper, cheering on the Atlanta Braves, and spending time with those he cherished. He never missed a graduation, birthday, holiday, or family celebration. Being present for his family was never an obligation; it was his greatest privilege. Though he was not one to speak unnecessarily, when Lawrence shared his thoughts, his words carried wisdom, thoughtfulness, and genuine care. He had a remarkable ability to look beyond the moment, carefully considering the future while always thinking about what would bring joy and happiness to others. While he may have avoided making decisions about restaurants, ties, or shirts, he was often the person family and friends turned to for guidance on life’s most important matters. His insight was steady, practical, and trustworthy. In both business and personal relationships, Lawrence conducted himself with honesty, humility, and a deep sense of responsibility toward others. He was a selfless giver, a steadfast protector, and a source of strength for those fortunate enough to know him.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his wife Judy and his parents, Lawrence Sr. and Allie Stocks. He is survived by his children, Stephanie Bennett (Sam) and Larry Stocks (Nicole); brother, Ronnie Stocks (Ann); grandchildren, Emily Rye (Bill), Rachel Dillard (Derek), Samuel Bennett (Danika), Joseph Bennett (Emily), Jacob Bennett (Alyvia), Will Stocks, and Noah Stocks; great-grandchildren, Jackson, Adalyn, Barrett, Tripp, Lawson, Emma, Brielle, and Judith Dianne
