Wanda Lou Poteet

With heavy hearts, our family announces the passing of Wanda Lou Poteet, of Dalton, Georgia, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at the age of 89, surrounded by those who loved her.

Wanda was born on July 4, 1937, in Spring Place, Georgia, to Edd James Walls and Jessie Mae Walls. Throughout her life, she was devoted to her family, her faith, and the people she loved. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, and the love and care she gave to her family will remain with us always.

She shared 60 years of marriage with her beloved husband, William Carl Poteet, and together they built a life centered around family, faith, and love. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with her son and grandchildren. Whether it was holidays, family vacations, or simply spending time at home, she had a special way of making time together meaningful.

Those who knew Wanda will remember her for her strength, generosity, faith, and devotion. She lived her life with grace and dignity, and her influence can be seen in the generations of family she leaves behind.

She is survived by her son, Craig Wayne Poteet; her grandchildren, Adam Connor Poteet and Jonathan Cole Poteet; her sister, Eva Mae Cortes; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Carl Poteet; her father, Edd James Walls; her mother, Jessie Mae Walls; and her siblings, Ishmal “Neal” Walls, Alligean “Polly” Walls, Francis “Pete” Walls, and Betty Sue Cox.

Our family is deeply grateful for the many years we were blessed to share with her. While we will miss her more than words can express, we find comfort in the life she lived, the family she loved so deeply, and the memories she leaves with each of us.

The viewing will be held on Sunday, September 27, from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Love Funeral Home. A celebration of Wanda’s life will follow at 2:30 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Dalton.

Her life was a blessing to our family, and her love will remain a part of us for generations to come.
