Mr. Thomas Emerson 'Tom' Stull, age 88, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 9, 2025.
Tom was born on Monday, February 1, 1937, to Rosco Emerson Stull and Elsa Olivia Olson Stull of the Lutheran religion in Litchfield, Connecticut. His family moved to Atlanta, Georgia, and he graduated from Chamblee High School, lettering in football, baseball, basketball, and track.
Tom received basketball and track scholarships to Auburn University. While at Auburn, he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He attended many Kappa Sigma reunions with his fraternity brothers. He enjoyed lasting friendships with Hank Elliott and many others. He was a long-time member of the Dalton Golf & Country Club and the Cleveland Golf & Country Club.
After graduating from Auburn, Tom came to Dalton, Georgia, to work for Textile Rubber & Chemical Company. Tom started his own company, BARRIER-BAC, INC., in the early 1990s. BARRIER-BAC was known for Hot Melt, Lamination, and Coatings. Their company philosophy was simple but direct: "Our fundamental aim is to make money out of satisfying customers."
Tom spent his retirement enjoying his lifelong passions: sailing, gardening, and being a chef to his family.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his brother, John, and his son, Richard.
Tom is survived by his wife, Nancy Mayo Stull; daughter, Stacey (Chris) Cecil; step-son, Bill (Lisa) Mayo; grandchildren, Dalton Stull, Cameron Mayo, Whitney (Garrett) Tucker, and Hannah (Matt) Harris; great-grandchildren, Landon, Peyton, and Bennett Harris, and Cooper Tucker.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Bill & Lisa Mayo's home (1628 Rio Vista Dr, Dalton, Georgia) on Saturday, August 16, 2025, from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M.
The family extends special thanks for the incredible care that Tom received at Walnut Creek from their loving staff. Caris Hospice added comfort in his last few months.
