Sergeant Robert Lee 'Bobby' Paschall, Jr., United States Army Vietnam War Veteran and Purple Heart Recipient, passed away peacefully at his home on Independence Day, July 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
Bobby was born on Monday, August 11, 1952, in Seattle, Washington, to the late Mr. Robert Lee Paschall, Sr., and Mrs. Lois June Shoop Paschall.
Bobby was a proud veteran of the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War from September of 1970 until August of 1971. He was awarded the Purple Heart medal for wounds and injuries he sustained in Vietnam. He was also awarded numerous additional accolades during his military service, including the U.S. Army National Defense Service Medal, the U.S. Army Vietnam Service Medal, the U.S. Army Combat Infantryman Badge, the U.S. Army Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal. In addition to his service in Vietnam, Bobby served as an Armor Crewman, overseeing and supervising the operation of tanks, assault vehicles, and fire weapons.
Bobby loved music, traveling, and feeding his hummingbirds. He especially loved serving others and helping other veterans. Outside of his military service, he worked as a counselor in the Atlanta Federal Penitentiary.
In addition to his parents, Bobby is preceded in death by his brothers Jeffery Paschall, Billy Paschall, Kenneth Paschall, Richard Paschall, and Jamie Paschall; his sisters, Carol Brieter and Candy Paschall; and his daughter, Amber Pitner.
Bobby is survived by his loving wife Lyda Bergdahl Paschall, to whom he was married just shy of 20 years. He is also survived by his children and stepchildren, Melissa (Will) Motino, Matt (Nicole) Boutwell, Allen (Kristen) Boutwell, Jessica Paschall, Shane Paschall, and Valerie Taylor; his granddaughters, Rayah Cobb, Zayla Scott, Maddie Pitner, Katelynn Payne, Fiona Motino, and Mia Taylor; and his grandsons, Major Lee Cummings, Jacob Boutwell, Ryan Boutwell, and Cameron Boutwell.
Additionally, Bobby is survived by his sisters, Loni Ryf, Donna (Bill) Frey, Roberta (Les) Pennington, as well as his brother, Randy (Teresa) Paschall).
In accordance with Bobby's wishes that he expressed during his lifetime, a private Celebration of Life will be held at his residence at a later date.
