Sandra Lou Sims

Sandra Lou Sims, age 81, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 13, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on May 4, 1945, Sandra was the daughter of the late Dr. Loyd C. Yeargin and Ruby Jones Yeargin.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Raymond Yeargin, Randy Yeargin, Gregory Yeargin, and Steve Yeargin.

She leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love and devotion through her beloved husband of 60 years, Gregg Sims, her daughters and sons-in-law, Cathy Sims Snyder (Steve), and Sheri Sims Henry (Jeff); her lasting impact touched her grandchildren, Mitchell Snyder, Grant Snyder, Sydney Sellers (Hutton), Alexandra Ruiz, and Vance Ruiz and to her great-grandchildren Sims and Poppy Sellers.

To her family, Sandra was a cherished wife, mother, and beloved “Mam-Mommy.” To her many friends, she was a gracious, caring, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness made everyone around her feel welcome and loved.

Sandra and Gregg shared a remarkable life together, built on love, family, friendship, dancing, and adventure. For 49 years, Sandra found great joy in working alongside Gregg and her daughter, Cathy, in their family architectural business. She was deeply devoted to the business they built together and took great pride in all they accomplished. The work they shared was more than a livelihood; it was a reflection of their partnership, dedication, and the life they lovingly built together.

Sandra and Gregg also shared a love of travel, and throughout their marriage they were fortunate to see much of the world together. Their travels brought them wonderful experiences, cherished memories, and countless stories shared with many special friends. Whether exploring a new place or simply enjoying time with those she loved, Sandra understood that the greatest part of any journey was the people with whom it was shared.

But of all the things Sandra treasured, nothing compared to her family. She gave generously of herself and found her greatest happiness involved with the lives of those she loved. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren held a particularly special place in her heart, and she embraced her role as “Mam-Mommy” with a love and devotion they will carry with them always.

Sandra lived a life rich in love, family, friendship, work, travel, and treasured memories. She leaves behind not only the people who loved her most, but also the many lives she touched with her kindness and generosity; her genuine care for others was a true-light for her community, family, and friends .

Her family will forever be grateful for the 60 years she shared with Gregg, for the love she gave her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and for the countless memories that will keep her spirit close and vibrant, just as she, herself, was.

Sandra will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her spirit lives on with us and we will continue to tell and carry her stories, just as she did, so beautifully. May she eternally rest in peace and rejoice with all the angels, saints, and our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

A memorial service will be held at the West Hill Cemetery Chapel Thursday, September 17 at 2pm. A reception will follow the service at JD’s at Cyra’s.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to The Creative Arts Guild or The Whitfield Healthcare Foundation designated to the HMC Residency Program fund established by Sandra in memory of Dr. Loyd C. Yeargin.
