Patsy 'Pat' Panter King

Patsy (Pat) Panter King passed away peacefully Saturday, September 20th, 2025, at her home in Dalton, Georgia.

Born in Copperhill, Tennessee on August 2, 1937, to Jewell Woody Panter and James Louis Panter, Jr. She was preceded in death by her husband, G. Jerry King, her brother James Louis Panter, III and stepson Rick King.

After graduating from Copperhill High School in 1955 she moved to Chattanooga, Tennessee and completed courses in business. She then took a position with surgeon Dr. Harry Stone as receptionist, office manager, and sometime nurse until his retirement in 1999. Pat received a “Professional of the Year” award in 1988 from the Chattanooga Professional Association.

In 1968 she married Jerry King and moved to Dalton. She continued working in Chattanooga because she loved her work. In addition, Pat had an affinity for Corvettes and enjoyed driving to and from Chattanooga.

Together Pat and Jerry lived life traveling, fishing, watching football and spending time at their beautiful lake home. Pat was a wonderful cook, and she especially enjoyed the TV cooking shows, QVC shows, gardening, and Sunday morning church services.

She is survived by her stepson, Steven Asa King and daughter-in-law, Ellen Smith King of Dalton; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Jerome and Sandra King of Bend, Oregon; sister-in-law Connie Panter of Atlanta; grandchildren Courtney and Jack Hitchens and Andy and Virginia King; great-grandsons, Jackson and Sawyer Hitchens; and her special caregivers, Martha Kennedy and Angela Von Phaden, and by her cousins and nieces.

A private graveside service will be held in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
