Mark W. Helton

Mark Wane Helton, 70, of Chattanooga, TN, formerly of Dalton, GA, passed away on April 15, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Leon Helton and Betty Jo Helton. He is survived by his daughter, Hunter (Marc) Capezzone of Chattanooga, TN, son, Zachary Helton of Tallahassee, FL, and 5 grandchildren: Lars, Victoria, Nils, Alba Capezzone, and Lila Helton. He is also survived by his brother, Tim Helton.

He was a graduate of West Georgia College in Carrollton, GA, with a degree in Education. Mr. Helton taught in Dalton Public Schools and retired after more than 30 years. One of his biggest joys in life was theatre. He directed numerous productions that featured his students throughout his career. Upon his retirement, he was able to travel the world with dear friends.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the Lantern at Morning Pointe of Chattanooga.

Mark’s family will receive friends from 10 AM until 12 PM on Saturday at Love Funeral Home.
