Lana Parker Sweenie

Lana Parker Sweenie, age 76, was born on November 3rd, 1948, in Montgomery, AL, and died on June 18, 2025, at her residence. Preceding her in death were her loving husband, Harold Gordon Sweenie of Rocky Face, GA; her parents James Raymond Parker and Juanita Haire Parker of Montgomery, AL; and sister, Patricia Rae Parker Roney of Wetumpka, AL.

She is survived by her two children, James Lawrence Baker, Jr. (Theresa) of Colorado Springs, CO. and Ashley Virginia Davies (John) of Tunnel Hill, GA; two grandchildren, Quentin Pierce Davies of Dalton, GA and Ethan Baker Davies of Tunnel Hill, GA; one great-grandchild, Alice Azula Davies of Tunnel Hill, GA; niece Stephanie Warr of Wetumpka, AL; great- nephew Jacob Warr and great-niece, Chaselyn Warr, and other cousins, nieces and nephews.

Lana attended Judson College, Dalton State College, and Kennesaw State University where she earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration, and later, a master’s degree in business administration. She worked as a Coordinator for Performance Accountability and later as Curriculum Coordinator for Technical Education at Dalton State College.

She was variously a member of the Carpet Capital Camera Club, the Photographic Society of Chattanooga, The Dalton Herb Society, the Dalton FAN club, Lesche Club, and the Rowdy Readers book club. Lana loved to travel and was an avid photographer. She enjoyed sharing her photography with others and occasionally exhibiting, as well as cooking and entertaining family and friends.
