Mr. Jackie Franklin Reddix, age 86, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, May 10, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Dalton on Wednesday, February 1, 1939, to the late Mr. Guite Reddix and Mrs. Paralee Newberry Reddix.
Jackie was a devoted family man. He was a passionate motorcycle enthusiast and cherished riding his Honda Magna and his Kawasakis. He loved spending time each year at Bike Week in Daytona Beach as well as Bike Week in Myrtle Beach. Beyond motorcycles, Jackie loved spending time with his friends and his family. He had a special gift for mechanics, which he generously passed on to his grandchildren, especially when it came to working on Volkswagens. 'Common Sense Mechanic' was how one of his grandsons described him; while he may not have had any formal mechanic training or education, there wasn't anything he couldn't fix or build when it came to cars and motorcycles. He also loved antiquing and flea marketing with his daughters. He loved both of his daughters dearly, although, he was once caught on video admitting that Tonja was his favorite. While he said this jokingly and with love, Connie never did let him - or Tonja - live it down.
In addition to his parents, Jackie is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mrs. Mary Lois Buckles Reddix. He is also preceded in death by his infant son, Jackie Jerome Reddix; his sister and brothers-in-law, Betty Elizabeth Wills Painter, Paul Wills and Marshall Painter; brother, Marvin Bud Grant; and sister and brother-in-law, Kathryn and Grady Bagley.
Jackie is survived by his loving daughters, Connie (Jordan) Johnston and Tonja (Matt) Parker; his grandchildren, Jai (Holly) Johnston, Dean (Holly) Fritz, Tristan Fritz, Matti Parker, and Bree Thompson; his great-grandchildren, Taylen Crawford, Harrison Fritz, Jet Johnston, Jacobi Johnston, and Axel Fritz.
Jackie is also survived by his sister, Martha Patty (Tip, dec.) Jordan; his sister, Peggy Ann (R.E. Larmon, dec.; Paul) Williams; his brother, Jerry (Carolyn) Reddix; his sister, Priscilla (Jerry) Johnson; his sister, Patricia Lynn 'Trish' (G.Z., dec.) Fowler; and his sister-in-law, Doris Grant. Jackie is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Additionally, Jackie is survived by his special friends, the Stover Family and the Wheat Family.
Funeral services to honor and celebrate the life of Mr. Jackie Franklin Reddix will be conducted on Thursday, May 15, 2025, at 3:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Brother Rusty Lavendar and Bishop Ronnie B. Powell officiating. Jackie will be laid to rest following the service next to his beloved wife in West Hill Cemetery.
