George Dewey Wright, Jr.

George Dewey Wright Jr., 89, of Dalton passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

He was the son of the late Dewey and Mattie Lou Wright.

George was a graduate of McCallie School in Chattanooga and Auburn University. He was a 1 ^st Lieutenant in the Signal Corps of the U.S. Army and was a member of a number of lineage societies. George was a longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church.

He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and is survived by his wife, Martha Holman Wright; children, Ellen Wright Tozer (David), George D. Wright III (Ellen), and Henderson Wright; grandchildren, George Tozer (Rebekah), Henderson Tozer (Julie), Martha Frances Wright (Pierce Trumbo),  George D. Wright IV, Mary Arden Roberts (Alex), and Henderson Wright Jr. (Meagan); 6 great-grandchildren; brother, Tom Wright (JoAnne).

The family would like to thank the staff of Amedisys Hospice and Tranquility Comfort Care.

A private graveside will be held for family in West Hill Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at a later date.
