Flossie Nelson Ball, age 89, of Dalton, Georgia, passed away peacefully on Wednesday April 1, 2026. She was born on November 14, 1936, in Dalton, Georgia to the late Wright and Gertrude Bailey Nelson (Sybil Langston Nelson). She was also preceded in death by her husband of 52 ½ years, Ray E. Ball on May 4, 2007; sisters and brothers in law, Virginia (John) Jackson, Katherine (Jack) Spence, Clara (Rembert) Hannah; brothers and sisters in law, Bill (Rosie) Nelson, Herschel (Faye) Nelson; sister in law, Sue Langston; nieces, Sandy (Hannah) McDade and Pat Spence; nephews, Todd Nelson and Stanley Cox; great niece, Brooke Potts; great nephew, Phillip Potts II.
She is survived by her special nieces and nephews, Linda J. Potts (caregiver), Ronnie (Paula) Spence, Penny Cox, Bert (Vicky) Hannah, Bill (Julie) Nelson ,Alan Nelson, Rick (Nikki) Nelson, Ken (Sheila) Nelson, Laura Langston, (Kay Thornberry) and Alan (Amy) Langston; brother, Lloyd Langston; special Godchild, Tiffany Tallent Casey. There are many more nieces and nephews, great and great - great nieces and nephews surviving.
Flossie was a beloved member of the Dalton and Antioch community. She was the face of Hardwick Bank for everyone who entered for decades. She loved her Antioch Church family, bowling family, and her related family with a Godly love that is rare to find in today’s world. Her beautiful outlook on life will be dearly missed. Love and appreciation to Linda Potts, caregiver, Debbie Clark and Carrie Yother for always being so loving and caring to Flossie. Love and appreciation to the Antioch Baptist Church members and The Villas at Hammond Creek neighbors.
Services to celebrate the life of Ms. Flossie Ball will be held on Monday, April 6, 2026, at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastors Donald Cantrell and Ray Talley officiating. Flossie will be laid to rest following the service at the Schneider/Nelson cemetery. Her family will receive friends for visitation from 11:00 AM until the service hour.
Flowers are accepted but Flossie prefers contributions be made to Schneider/Nelson cemetery fund c/o Ronnie Spence, 2411 Shahn Dr., Dalton, GA 30720 or Antioch Church cemetery fund c/o Eddress Green, 1721 Riverbend Rd., Dalton, GA 30721.
