Estelle’s life was defined by her love for learning, her commitment to service, and her devotion to family. A proud 1955 graduate of the University of Georgia, she completed her Bachelor of Science in Home Economics in just three years. During her time at UGA, she was deeply involved in campus life, earning the title of Outstanding Junior in Home Economics, being named to Who’s Who, and achieving the honor of Master 4-H’er.
Before marriage, Estelle served as an Extension Home Economist, sharing her knowledge and passion for better living with countless families. Her dedication to her field was recognized statewide when she was named Georgia Homemaker of the Year in 1971. After raising her four daughters, she earned a Master of Education and retired as the Director of School Nutrition Services for Whitfield County Schools, where her leadership left a lasting impression on students and staff alike.
Estelle’s life extended far beyond her professional accomplishments. She poured her heart into her community as a Girl Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and President of both the Garden Club and PTA. A faithful member of Dalton First United Methodist Church, she lived her faith daily through acts of kindness and service.
Of all her achievements, Estelle’s greatest joy came from her role as a devoted wife to her beloved husband of 68 years, a loving mother, and a cherished grandmother and great-grandmother. Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched, the lessons she taught, and the love she so freely gave.
Funeral services will be held at 1 PM on Saturday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Pastor Chuck Harris officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be prior to the service from Noon until 1 PM. Estelle will be laid to rest at West Hill Cemetery.
