Elsie Mae Cochran

April 3, 1928 — May 15, 2025

Elsie Mae Smith Cochran, 97, of Dalton passed away on Thursday, May 15, 2025.

She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Josie Smith. She was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 62 years, Ray L. Cochran; sons, Rex Cochran and Lynn Cochran; siblings, Alma, Hulen, Opal, Pearline, Berniece, Ann, Dimple Sue, and Douglas; son-in-law, Robert Waters.

Elsie was a faithful and active member of Calvary Baptist Church. She enjoyed flowers and gardening and loved raising her five children and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by her children, Kathy Hope Waters, Janice Horne (Raymond), and Susie Holcomb (Tim); grandchildren, Elizabeth, Laura (Jonathan), Dwight (Kristi), Matthew (Rachel), Kerri, Angela (Gary), Alex, Zach (Lisa), Valerie (Austin), and Austin (Megan); 20 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; siblings, Vinson, Jean, and Martha; nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 3 PM on Tuesday in the chapel of Love Funeral Home with Dr. Raymond Horne and Pastor Jeff Bramblett officiating. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2 until 3 PM. Elsie will be laid to rest next to her husband in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
