Dr. Charlie Clark, 84, of Dalton, GA, went home to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, leaving behind a legacy filled with love, faith, and selfless service.
Charlie was born December 8, 1941 in Lagrange, GA to P.B. and Louise Clark. He attended North Georgia College and Lagrange College, then Emory University School of Dentistry, earning his doctorate in dentistry. At Emory he met the love of his life, Jane Ann Burton, joined in marriage on June 24, 1967. Charlie direct commissioned into the Army as a Dental Corps Officer from 1969 to 1972, stationed in South Carolina, with a deployment to Thailand. Upon discharge from the Army, Charlie and Jane moved to Dalton where they raised a family and established his dental practice serving the Dalton and Chatsworth communities, and later as a dentist with the Georgia Department of Corrections. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1977 to 2001, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel. Charlie was an active member of Dalton First United Methodist Church, serving in local ministries as well as several mission trips to South America. Charlie loved Jesus, his family, his church, and his community.
Charlie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Jane Burton Clark; his sons David (Toni) and Ben; grandchildren Emily, Truman (Katie Brooke), and Jenna; and great grandson Rhodes (due in March).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations be made to Dalton First United Methodist Church.
Charlie’s life was a testimony of faith, and while he will be deeply missed, his family rejoices in the promise of eternal life and the hope of reunion in Christ.
