Donald "Robby" Ray Robertson

Dec 25, 1939 — Jul 28, 2026

Donald Ray Robertson, known to friends as “Robby”, passed away on the morning of July 28, 2026, in the care of Hearth Hospice in Chattanooga, TN. After suffering a broken hip, he was subsequently in the care of Hamilton Medical Center, Siskin Rehabilitation, Erlanger ER & ICU, and finally Hearth Hospice/Chattanooga Hospice Care. Our utmost respect and gratitude go out to the nurses and doctors in these organizations, as well as the EMT’s and Firemen who helped in Donald’s time of need.

Donald, son of Ruby and Quillian Robertson, (both deceased) was born in Varnell, Georgia. He was the oldest brother to Patricia, married to Jimmy Mathis, Billie Robertson (deceased) married to Sandra, and Judy, married to Ed Staten, all of Whitfield County. Donald was married to Patricia Ann Stephenson for 53 years, until her passing in 2017. He is survived by his only child, Chris “Bones” Robertson, Chris’ wife, Colby Damron Robertson, and granddaughters Mary Gracen “Gigi” Robertson and Ellis Cook Robertson, all residing in Dalton, Georgia.

Throughout his lifetime, Donald was a member of various churches, including Dawnville United Methodist Church and Dalton First Baptist Church. For 69 years he worked in various jobs and owned businesses involved in the carpet industry in Dalton, just retiring from AddBac, in March of 2026. Known as Robby, as well as Doc, to his friends, Donald was known for his never-ceasing work ethic, competitive spirit, easy going, kind nature, his ability to talk to anyone he met, love of hunting with beagles, and his smile that he always wore. He especially loved his granddaughters and watching them compete in sports activities throughout the years.

Celebration of the long and prosperous life of Donald Robertson will be held at the home that he shared with his son and family at 605 Audubon Way in Dalton. Drop in between the hours of 3:00 to 5:00 on Friday July 31, 2026, to share and talk with friends and family. A prayer and scripture will be read at 5:00. Donald’s ashes will be laid to rest, along with Pat’s, in Whitfield Memorial Gardens in the city of Dalton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the Dalton Fire Department and Whitfield County EMS.
