Brenda Kay James

Brenda Kay James peacefully passed away on September 2, 2026, at her residence at Ridgewood Manor in Dalton, Georgia. Brenda was preceded in death by her father, Dr. William B. James. She is survived by her mother, Irma J. James of Dalton, Georgia; her sisters, Linda James Mowery (Harold Mowery) and Janet James Barnhardt (David Barnhardt); her sons, John Woods and Kristofor Peterson (Nicole Peterson); and her nine grandchildren, Nathanial Woods, Asher Woods, AnnaBella Peterson, Kolsen Peterson, Giavonna Peterson, Madonna Peterson, Kingston Peterson, Kristian Peterson, and Kooper Peterson. She is also survived by three nieces and nephews and their spouses, one step-niece, five great-nieces and great-nephews, and five step-great-nephews. Family was at the heart of Brenda’s life. She was deeply devoted to her family and cherished every moment spent with those she loved. She held a particularly special love for her grandchildren, with whom she shared a unique and treasured bond. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she took great joy in watching them grow, being part of their lives, and creating memories they will carry with them forever. Her love for her family was unconditional, and the warmth, kindness, and love she gave them will remain a lasting part of their lives. Brenda attended the Seventh-day Adventist School in Dalton, Georgia, and graduated in 1969. She graduated from Dalton High School in 1972 and went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Dietetics from Georgia State University in 1985. Brenda dedicated 30 years of her life to educating patients about their dietary and nutritional needs. She was deeply dedicated to her patients and their families, always putting their health and well-being first. Her compassion, dedication, and genuine care touched the lives of many throughout her career. Brenda found joy in many activities throughout her life. She enjoyed gymnastics, swimming, water skiing, horseback riding, hiking, bird watching, cooking, sculpting, art, macramé, and flower gardening. She loved animals of all kinds and enjoyed walking along the beach, reading the Bible, taking pictures, playing the piano and violin, listening to music, and spending time visiting with friends and family. She cherished the simple moments and the many interests that brought joy to her life. Brenda was deeply committed to her faith and cherished her relationship with God. Her faith was an important part of her life and guided her throughout her journey. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation on Wednesday, September 9th 2026, from 1 to 2 p.m. at Love Funeral Home. Funeral services for Brenda Kay James will immediately follow with Pastor Nathaniel Oregon officiating. Burial will follow at Whitfield Memorial Gardens and will be for family only. In lieu of floral arrangements, donations can be sent to the Learning Tree Elementary School at 300 S Tibbs Rd, Dalton, GA 30720 Brenda will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, faith, and love that will continue to live on through her family and all those whose lives she touched. May she rest in eternal peace.
