Betty Ellis McIntosh

July 19, 1935 — April 22, 2026

With hearts full of love and gratitude we share the passing of Betty Ellis McIntosh, who went to her Heavenly home on April 22, 2026, at the age of 90. Betty was born on July 19, 1935, in Dalton, Georgia, where she raised her family and lived until moving to Greenville in 2023.

A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Dalton, Betty was known for her unwavering faith, rarely missing a Sunday service. For 20 years, she served as an administrative professional in a variety of ministries at her beloved church while dedicating herself to being a nurturing homemaker for her three daughters. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through challenges and inspiring those around her.

Betty was an avid gardener, with a passion for flowers and birds, and she found joy in crafting and sewing, often creating beautiful dresses for her daughters. She was also a gifted cook, lovingly remembered for her homemade apple pies, angel biscuits, and delicious cakes. She also enjoyed traveling, taking meals to shut-ins, and line dancing. Betty was an avid reader and a lifelong learner.

Her courage shone through during her battle with colon cancer, a testament to her strong faith. She selflessly cared for her husband, Bob, during his long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Betty found new joy in her final years as she was able to develop new friendships and spend special time with her growing family.

Betty is survived by her three daughters, Susan Kearney (Rick) of Kinston, NC, Sharon Williams (Brad) of Greenville, SC, and Laura Madison (Jeremy) of Birmingham, AL. She will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Tyson Williams, Sarah Kathryn Sorrells (Jordan), Bradley Williams (Katie), Carter Andrews (Matt), Samuel Kearney (Lily), and Alex Madison; as well as her great-grandchildren, Will, Jack, and Ellie Sorrells, Bradley and Hunter Williams, and Matt, Ruthie, and Lily Andrews. She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Boyd (Henrietta) of Dalton, GA; along with a number of nieces and nephews and their families.

Betty was reunited in heaven with her beloved parents, Henry Fred Boyd and Lillie Slaton Boyd; her husband of 50 years, Robert Lee Ellis; her second husband, Kenneth E. McIntosh; and two brothers, Vernon and JW Boyd.

The family expresses heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful friends and caregivers at The Blake in Greenville, SC, for their support during her final years, and to her church family at First Baptist Church of Dalton for the lifelong love and fellowship.

The family will receive friends at First Baptist Church in Dalton, GA on Saturday, May 2, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. followed by the service honoring Betty's remarkable life at 2:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Church, Dalton, GA, Rise Against Hunger and/or Servants for Sight. All of these organizations held a special place in her heart.

Betty will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all whose lives she touched with her kindness, faith, and love.
