On September 8, 2025, Betty Jean Middleton Hudson, age 87, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, passing peacefully in Rocky Face, Georgia.
Born and raised in Lynchburg, Virginia, Betty lived a life full of love, devotion, and service. In her early years, she worked in retail before joining her husband, William “Bill” Hudson, in managing his State Farm Insurance agency office in Madison Heights, Virginia. Together they built a life grounded in faith, family, and hard work.
Betty’s Christian faith was the heart of who she was. She loved her church family deeply, finding joy in singing in the choir and sharing God’s Word as a Sunday School teacher. Her faith guided her, strengthened her, and shaped the way she loved others.
Above all, Betty’s greatest blessing was her family. She poured her heart into raising her children, always making them her priority. She celebrated every milestone, every joy, and every blessing of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her laughter, kindness, and steadfast love will live on in each of them.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Hudson, and her sisters, Nancy Ferguson and Linda Ray. She leaves behind three children: Vickie Scott of Virginia, Scott Hudson of the Philippines, and Jennifer Gay of Georgia. She will be lovingly remembered by her six grandchildren-Aimee Pierce, Bryon Neufeld, Jordan Bridgers, William Gay, Michael Gay, and Paul Hudson-and her eight great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brother, Jack Middleton, who shared a lifelong bond with her.
Betty’s life was a testimony of faith, love, and devotion. Her legacy will continue to shine through the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.
A graveside service will take place at Fort Hill Memorial Park, 5196 Fort Ave. in Lynchburg, VA on Sunday, September 14, at 2 p.m. The Reverend John Pickett will be officiating the service.
