Annie 'Ann' Manis Coley Coats

Annie (Ann) Manis Coley Coats, 95, of Dalton, passed away peacefully on September 15, 2025.

Ann was born in 'the old rock house in the curve' on Cohutta Varnell Road in Cohutta, Georgia, to the late William and Ada Spann Manis on July 22, 1930.

Ann was married for 44 loving years to her husband, S.L. Coley, until his death in July of 1993.  Together, they built a residential construction/development business that was well known in Dalton and surrounding communities.  She was a very supportive wife while S.L. served his community as a Whitfield County commissioner for several years.

While juggling the responsibilities of helping run the family business, and enjoying her hobby of bowling in local leagues, Ann was a loving mother to one son, Steve (Rice) Coley of Rocky Face, and one daughter, Cathy Coley (Richard) Haynes of Chattanooga, Tennessee, both of whom survive her.  She was also a very proud grandmother of four surviving grandchildren, Jordan (Shaunna) Coley of Rocky Face, Jillian Coley Stone of Flintstone, Cassi Woods (Aaron) Wood of Apison, Tennessee, Stephen Coley of Rocky Face, and six surviving great-grandchildren.  She was also a caring aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Ann is preceded in death by her loving husband, Shelbren Coley, as well as her father, William Manis, and mother, Ada Spann Manis.  All of her five siblings preceded her in death; two brothers, Jeff Manis and Robert Manis; three sisters, Lillian Manis Scott, Sybil Manis Underwood, and Sara Manis Scott.  Her second husband, Kenneth Coats, also preceded her in death.

Funeral services to honor and celebrate Ann's life will be conducted at 3:00 P.M. on Friday, September 19, 2025, in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Amspaugh officiating.  Ann will be laid to rest in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

Her family will receive friends for visitation at Love Funeral Home on the evening of Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
