Alex Wayne McAtee

Alex Wayne McAtee “aka Big Al”, 30, of Rocky Face passed away on Monday, July 27, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his nanny, Venita Stephens, mamaw, Dorothy Painter and nana and papa, Thomas and Phylis McAtee.

Alex was one of a kind—a hard-headed, big-hearted guy who loved his family and the outdoors. He was a good dad who loved hard. He had a great sense of humor and could make people laugh, often when they needed it most. He leaves behind memories full of laughter and love. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

He is survived by his mom and stepdad, Brandy McAtee Wilbanks (Stacey); dad and stepmom, Doug McAtee (Melissa); siblings, Caleb McAtee (Taylor), Kierstyn Holland, Makayla Wioskowski, Chasity Wioskowski, John Wilbanks (Morgan), and Brittany Aaron (Ben); children, Saylor McAtee, Caliope McAtee, and Abel McAtee; aunts and uncles, Bridgette and Kris Roberts, and Brea and Dustin Patrick; cousins, Trevor, Seth, Cierra, Taylor, and Tyler; grandparents, Papaw and Nana Wilbanks.

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM on Friday, July 31, 2026, in the chapel of Love Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 3 until 9 PM on Thursday and then again prior to the service on Friday.
