Mrs. Hugh M. Lightbody, of Dalton, passed away January 27, 2007 at her residence.
Mrs. Lightbody was born Pearl Viola Rygh on June 23, 1919 to the late Caroline Trustheim and Mikkel Jens Rygh at their home in Lake Mills, IA.
After graduating from Scarville High School in 1937 she attended Cosmetology School in Mason City, IA. and received her certificate in 1938. She married Lieutenant Hugh Maurice Lightbody on April 3, 1943 at Woodlawn Immanuel E. Lutheran Church in Chicago, IL. where he was stationed in the Army. They first moved to Dalton in 1958 and she resided there at the time of her death.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Hugh M. Lightbody of Dalton; daughter, Karen L. Kirkman of Dalton; son, Steven R. Lightbody of Atlanta, GA; and two brothers, Jens and James B. Rygh of Lake Mills, IA.
She is survived by her daughter, Jean L. Hamilton of Miramar Beach, FL; six grandchildren, Doug Kirkman of London, U.K.; Nathan Kirkman of Atlanta, GA; Anne Partamian of Marietta, GA; Katie Bonjean of Miramar Beach, Fl; Rebecca Durkin of Jacksonville, Fl; and Hayley Hamilton of Dalton.
Six Great-Grandchildren, Frank Bonjean of Miramar Beach, FL; Finn Durkin of Jacksonville, FL; Penny Partamian of Marietta, GA; and Milo Pilkington, Charles Kirkman and Nancy Kirkman all of London, U.K. Also surviving are three sisters; Ellen Meyer of Charles City, IA; Florence Wiscocil of Mesa, AZ and Marcella Sauter of Albuquerque, NM. One brother, Marlin Rygh of Mesa, AZ. Sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday in the Chapel of First United Methodist Church with Dr. Joe Peabody officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lowell Kirkman, Dana Hamilton, Marlin Rygh and Nathan Kirkman.
The family will receive friends in the Atrium at the First United Methodist Church Monday from 10 to 11 A.M.
