Mrs. Louise M. Whitehead, 95, of Dalton, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2010 at Hamilton Medical Center.
She was the daughter of the late, William O’neal and Flora Baxley Miller and was preceded in death by her husband of fifty years, Ellis Whitehead; sister, Helen M. McDaris; brother, William O. Miller, Jr.
Louise was a member of the Dalton First Presbyterian Church where she taught Sunday School and was Church Librarian. She was a graduate of Converse College and was a member of Phi-Mu sorority, she was a Paul Harris Fellow Award recipient and was a very active Philanthropist. Louise served on the board of directors for the Creative Arts Guild and the Dalton Regional Library and was a member of the Dalton Bird and Garden Club.
Louise is survived by her daughter, Tanya Whitehead; son and daughter-in-law, Jon and Sharon Whitehead all of Dalton; grandchildren, Angela and Rock Harden of Dalton, Jeff and Chesa Dyer of Dalton, Jennifer and John Stanton of New York, Julie and Jason Jones of Chattanooga, Allison Elizabeth Whitehead of Columbus, GA.; great-grandchildren, Christiana Willocks, Brady Willocks, Connor Willocks, Katie Harden, Emma Dyer, Hudson Dyer, Beckham Dyer and Katelyn Locke; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Friday from the First Presbyterian Church.
Burial will follow in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home Thursday from 5 to 7 P.M. and on Friday one hour prior to services in the Narthex of the Church.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Medical Benevolence Fund, c/o First Presbyterian Church, 510 S. Tibbs Rd. Dalton, GA. 30720 or to the Dalton Regional Library, 310 Cappes St., Dalton, GA. 30720.
