Audrey Morgan

July 5, 1930 — March 2, 2017

Audrey Faye Sanford Morgan, loving mother and “Nanny” to dozens of grandchildren and great grandchildren, died peacefully on March 2 with her family at her side. She was 86.

Mrs. Morgan lived in Dalton, Ga. and was a former resident of Magnolia, Ark., Rayville, La. and Natchez, Miss. Born July 5, 1930 on a farm in Archibald, La. to Leonard Sanford and Almeda Sanford, she was one of eight children the couple raised during the Great Depression.
In death she was reunited with her sweetheart and husband of 40 years, Charlie Earl Morgan, who died in 1987. The couple married just three days after their first meeting, on Mrs. Morgan’s 17th birthday, July 5, 1947.

Together they raised seven children. Mrs. Morgan was a proud homemaker who was generous with her time, laughter and good food. She enjoyed spending time with family, traveling, and making art and crafts. Mrs. Morgan will always be remembered for her abounding love, courage and strength.

Mrs. Morgan was preceded in death by her parents, five siblings and beloved son, Raymond Earl Morgan, who died in 1976.

She is survived by four sons and two daughters; Allen B. Morgan (Eva), Hardin, Texas, Michael W. Morgan (Camille), Alabaster, Ala., Gary L. Morgan (Saundra) Magnolia, Ark., Charlie E. Morgan Jr. (Debbie) Chapel Hill, Tenn. Delores Morgan Stroope, Crossett, Ark., Beverly Morgan Carmichael (John) Dalton, Ga., two sisters, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and family too numerous to count.

Mrs. Morgan and her family appreciate the loving care provided by Annette Carnes and Linda Caroll in her final days.

Visitation will be Saturday, March 11 at Immanuel Baptist Church, 1823 E. North St. Magnolia, Ark., at 1 p.m. with a service following at 2 p.m.
