Mr. Donald Howard Poe, born September 8, 1933, passed away on Friday, March 3, 2017.

He was preceded in death by 2 infant brothers and also brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar and Lilly Poe, Lewis and Ruby Poe, Bill and Katherine Poe, Idus and Christine Poe and Gene Poe; sister and brother-in-law, Nadine and Glen Morgan; brothers-in-law, Richard Bennett, Troy Teasley, Rowdy McReynolds, Daniel Caylor and Harv Millsaps.

Donald is survived by the love of his life of 65 years, Evelyn D. Poe; sisters, Ilene Teasley and Cutene Millsaps; sisters-in-law, Hazel Poe, Lugene McClure, Sybil Morrow and Joyce Plumley. He is survived by multiple nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and nephews who he adored and thought of as his children and grandchildren. He is also survived by a very special neighbor, Charlene Green and sons, David and Dennis Green and families who he loved dearly. Also Sonya Witherow who cared for Donald and Evelyn in their home.

Donald proudly served in the military with the U.S. Army for his country in Korea. He devoted his life to caring for and loving his sweet wife. He loved working hard in his garden, shooting pool and fishing with his brothers. He loved going to church at the services at Quinton Memorial with Evelyn. A special thanks goes out to Melissa Clifton and the team of caring friends at Quinton Memorial for going above and beyond their responsibilities. He made lots of special friends too numerous to count. Special nurse, Audra, activities director Greg, receptionist Angie, Quinton pastors and many others who grew to love him and treat him as their own. He was retired from Shaw Candlewick.

Funeral services will be on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Love Funeral Home with the Rev. Chuck Harmon and the Rev. David Green officiating.

Pallbearers will be nephews, H.R., J.R., Larry, Dale, David and Johnny.

Burial will be in Whitfield Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends at Love Funeral Home on Saturday from 5 to7 p.m.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to the Georgia Lions Lighthouse Foundation, 5582 Peachtree Road, Atlanta Ga. 30341.
