Mrs. Lilla Virginia Mitchell Kirk, 95, of Rocky Face, passed away Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at Murray Medical Center.

Virginia is predeceased by parents Clarence Dewitt and Bertha Lovie Barrett Mitchell, her sisters, Lois and Nadine and her brothers, Harold, Aubrey and Clyde.

She is predeceased by her loving, devoted husband, Cyrus Eugene Kirk of 72 plus years. They were married in Cleveland, MS on November 28, 1942.

Virginia was born near Jackson, MS on September 29, 1919. She graduated from Greenwood High School, Greenwood, MS in 1937.

She enjoyed painting and was recognized as a “Southern Primitive” artist. She also enjoyed her Sunday school class at First Baptist, Dalton, GA and her volunteer work with Meals on Wheels.

Virginia is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Lynne (W.G.) Miller of Hattiesburg, MS; her sons, Cy (Jean) Kirk of Rocky Face, GA, Joe (Ratih) Kirk of Malang, Indonesia and Neil (Toby) Kirk of Covington, OK; her 13 grandchildren, Michelle (Anthony) Bridges, Shawn (Rodney) Stanley, Kristen (Brad) Cundiff, Ginger (Jimmy) Light, Carey Kirk, Sabrina (Richard) McDonald, Lynette (Ronnie) Gregory, Dr. Stephanie (Matt) Hibler, Cameron (Waylon) Rodgers, Karlie (Jon) Harper, Savannah Kirk, Lawrence Kirk and Austin Kirk; her 15 great-grandchildren, Morgan Stanley, Hunter Stanley, Lynsey Bridges, Cameron Cundiff, Andrew Bridges, Gabriel Kirk, Reaghan Cundiff, Barrett McDonald, Jordan Harper, Rebecca Bridges, Cutter Rodgers, Russ Harper, Dalton Gregory, Arlon Hibler and Miller McDonald; numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday in the Chapel of First Baptist Church with Dr. Bill Ireland, Rev. Jimmy Light, and Rev. Larry Flanagan officiating.

Burial will follow in West Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends on Friday from 5 until 8 PM at Love Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Baptist Church of Dalton for the Meals on Wheels program, P.O. Box 827 Dalton, GA 30722-0827.
