Mrs. Ruth Clark DeLoach died January 22, 2014 in Dalton, GA. She was born in Statesboro, GA April 4, 1917. She was a graduate of South Georgia Teachers College (Georgia Southern) and earned a Master of Christian Education from Emory University. Mrs. DeLoach spent most of her life in Avondale Estates, GA. She worked with the Decatur schools for 10 years, was a member of Decatur First United Methodist Church [Fellowship Class Sunday School], the United Methodist Children’s Home Auxiliary, and served as a Stephen Minister. She was preceded in death by her parents Hosea and Florence Elkins Clark; brother Julian Clark; sisters Gladys DeLoach and Louise Aaron. She is survived by daughters Harriet Pittman (Carter) of Dalton, Vicki Casares (Paul) of Auberry, CA; grandchildren Debra Dickerson (Riley) of Hixson, TN, Carter Pittman, III and Guy Pittman of Dalton, GA, Erin Burke (Joey) of Fresno, CA; great-grandchildren Kalyn Pittman and Guyton Pittman of Dalton, Charlotte Dickerson of Hixson, TN, and Elton Burke of Fresno, CA; nieces Linda Aaron of Atlanta and Joan Jones of Kennesaw, GA and nephews Clark DeLoach of Statesboro and Don Clark of Antioch, TN. The memorial service will be held in the sanctuary of Decatur First United Methodist Church Friday, January 31 at 3 PM with the Rev. Dr. David B. Jones officiating. Visitation will be held at the church at 2 PM. Mrs. DeLoach donated her body to Emory University School of Medicine Body Donor Program.
